ABOUT US

Chestnut Ridge Log Cabins, a division of Chestnut Ridge of McDowell County, Inc., was founded in 2002 for the purpose of manufacturing and marketing top-of-the-line RV Park Models in the tradition of authentic log cabins.

Our parent company was established in the Fall of 1999 as a land management and development company with a primary focus on environmentally friendly residential communities and vacation resorts. The company's first acquisition was a 259 acre tract just off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Little Switzerland, NC. Recently, we have acquired an additional 215 acre tract in the same general vicinity.

Though we plan to develop some of our properties for seasonal and/or year-round residential use, we are committed to doing so in a manner that is environmentally responsible, while maintaining a keen awareness of the impact our actions can have on the surrounding communities.

To that mindset we owe the establishment of Chestnut Ridge Log Cabins. In our efforts to plan resort communities with minimal visual impact on the local scenery, we stumbled across a "new" concept in recreational vacation housing; RV Park Models. And just what is a park model? As defined by the Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association (RPTIA), a park model (or park trailer as it is also known), is "...a recreational vehicle that is primarily designed to provide temporary living quarters for recreation, camping or seasonal use..."

Though park models have been around for a while, many manufacturers build their units using aluminum, vinyl, or thin wooden lap-siding. Though perfectly sound, safe and acceptable, a park model built in this manner tends to resemble an oversized camper-trailer, or even a mobile home. At Chestnut Ridge, our homes are constructed of solid kiln-dried Pine logs with dovetailed corners, providing structural integrity and an authentic log cabin look and feel.

Compact but efficient floor plans provide the modern comforts and amenities you would expect in a vacation getaway, while minimizing the clearing of land and the cutting of mature timber. Our homes are designed to blend with nature - not replace it.
